Operations Manager Dairy

For our Lely division in Rotterdam, we are looking for an Operations Manager for the Dairy business unit.

The Role

• The operations manager is involved with the planning, coordination and control of the manufacturing process of the Dairy product portfolio.

Ensuring that goods and services are produced efficiently: producing the correct amount at the right cost and at the right level of quality.

• Dealing with people is an important part of the job: both direct reports (production supervisors) as well as stakeholders who are involved with planning, controlling, sales, production engineering and purchasing.

The Responsibilities

• Overseeing the production process, drawing up a production schedule, ensuring that production is cost effective.
• Working out the human and material resources needed; drafting a timescale for the job.
• Estimating costs and setting the quality standards.
• Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed.
• Being responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment.
• Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programmes.
• Liaising among different departments and stakeholders, e.g.
• suppliers and engineering.
• Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed.
• Supervising, coaching, developing and motivating the team; identifying training needs.
• Working to continuously improve the production processes according to Lely standards and formats, experience with Continuous Improvement (Lean).

The Organization

• The Operations Manager Dairy reports to the COO. The COO focuses on the operations of the complete product line of Lely and is part of the Lely Executive Board.
• The Operations Manager will be part of the Operations Executive Team, in which the focus lies on strategy execution and tactical decisions.
